James R. Toney, DPM

Dr. James Toney was born and raised in Genesee County, MI.  As a first generation physician, he understands and appreciates the importance of bedside manner.  He has a passion for teaching and therefore believes spending time to educate his patients about their condition is key in successful treatment.  For this reason, he encourages questions from his patients.

He received his undergraduate degree from Ferris State University (Big Rapids, MI).  From there, he elected to defrost for a bit, earning his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Midwestern University Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine (Glendale, AZ).  While attending Podiatry school, he was elected class president and graduated in the top 10 of his class. He completed his formal education with a 3 year, surgical based residency program at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, MI.  He has extensive training in a multitude of surgical and non-surgical foot and ankle treatment modalities.  His surgical training included reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, as well as management of complicated diabetic foot infections/limb salvage.

Dr. Toney is board certified in Foot Surgery and qualified in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.  He is on staff at Sparrow, McLaren Greater Lansing and Memorial Healthcare.

He is a family man and believes spending time with his family is important for a healthy life.  He and his wife have settled in DeWitt with their two children.  He is a sports nut and enjoys spending time outside.  He and his family enjoy taking advantage of Michigan summers by camping, kayaking and traveling the coast.  He would love the opportunity to aid you in achieving healthy, happy feet.
